A brief history
Local Saltash based Optometrist Peter Noakes opened his first practice in Alexandra Road, Crownhill, Plymouth in 1979.
He was joined by Optometrist Nick Habermehl in 1982, Andrew Kerr in 1986 and more recently in 2022 by Optometrist Ian Berry. All four Directors continue to work in practice along with a team of over 40 dedicated and experienced staff.

In 1986 we built our unique and iconic stand alone practice in Crownhill, which also serves as head office.
​
From small beginnings we have grown into a modern optical group with six well established practices based in and around Plymouth, South West Devon and Cornwall, along with our state-of-the-art optical lab at Ivybridge.
​
We pride ourselves on retaining a high proportion of clinically qualified staff, working with local universities to offer placements to medical and optometry students and we regularly support a pre-reg Optometrist during their final year of qualification.

Since lockdown we've undertaken one of our largest ever investments in new technology; Optical CT Scanners in every practice, Digital Slit-Lamps and hospital-grade Field-of-Vision instruments - see innovations. Our commitment to clinical excellence allows for a gradual move to offering more enhanced eyecare and further specialist services - see enhanced eye exams
